How do athletes get fitter, faster and stronger?

It comes down to your training load and your body’s ability to absorb and adapt to that load during recovery periods.
On paper, this seems fairly basic, however there is a fine line between over and under-doing it. Not enough recovery and you end up injured or sick. Not enough load and there’s no stimulus to adapt to.
